The Beginning

Tom Scanlan Sr. started Indue back in 1980. He was basically a one-man operation getting some help from his sons. One of his sons, Tom Scanlan Jr., would take over the reigns in 1994.

Tom Sr. passed on his own philosophies to Tom Jr. about how to do business. These have proven to be invaluable in Indue’s expansion over the last few years:

Philosophy

• Value the relationship with the customer.
Indue is not in the flooring business to be a low cost provider. Indue is in the flooring business to provide high quality materials and workmanship. Just as important is a high quality relationship with our customers. In order for us to continue to do business with our customers they have to trust us. The value of this relationship is priority #1 for Indue.

• Provide quality materials.
What’s the use in taking the time and energy to install a coating with inferior materials? Indue would be wasting our customers time and money. You can’t afford it and neither can we.

• Be honest, be fair.
There is a small notation we make on all of our installation bids that reads, “All bids are done on a time-andmaterial basis.” We decided to include this to reinforce the idea of being fair and honest. The idea of us accounting for all time-and-materials used per day gives us a chance to not only review how efficient we are but it is also an opportunity for the customer to save some money. We won’t bill out for services and material not rendered.
